Collin is defending his dissertation tomorrow. I’m about to be married to a doctor.
I’m so proud of Collin. He’s been in his PhD program the entire time I’ve known him, and that’s only half the time he’s been in it (and he’s still completed it within a relatively short time frame. Man, academia is bonkers.) Needless to say this is the culmination of an incredible amount of hard work. Dude deserves some letters after his name.
And he deserves a break. Which I’m sure he’s barely going to give himself. He’s headed to our future home Cape Town for a conference like… five days after the champagne gets popped. But that’s the busy bee I married.
My in-laws are all headed in to see his defense and celebrate his accomplishments, and I’m super stoked to see them (especially my niece Gia who is about a week shy of her first birthday and all the cuteness that implies).
Meanwhile, I’ve been busy rehearsing for Frankly Scarlett‘s first comedy show which is this Saturday night. Doing this show means a lot to me, which I’ll write about in more depth later, because right now I feel embarrassed by the comparison to Collin’s massive accomplishment. But I did want to mention it in case any readers in the Pittsburgh area want to come see me and the funniest women in Pittsburgh do our damnedest to entertain you.

Go Collin! And go you, Robin! Honestly, to me doing stand-up seems way more daunting than getting a PhD. Even if it does take considerably less time to do it. I;m impressed for both of you!

Congratulations to BOTH of you!

Oooooh, congrats to Collin (I always love how “he proposed” in PhD land means “he proposed his dissertation”, lol). I have…~3 years left myself (yay?).
The show looks great! Congrats!
