HitchDied

HitchDied the Podcast: Episode 1

Collin and I hope to record a weekly podcast summarizing how our lives in Cape Town are going. This is a total rip-off of his cousin Scott podcast with his girlfriend Brittanywhich is about their lives in New York. Sorry, Scottany.

Some of the material will be a rehash of what I’ve already written, but most of it is new, and all of it has the added fun of audio! Plus it’s only 15 minutes long.

Here’s a breakdown of what we talk about:
00:00 Intro
00:50 Jet lag
02:20 Driving here
03:38 Minibus taxis
[04:28 F-bomb]
06:18 Parking attendants
07:38 Price shock
08:40 Obligatory trip to McDonalds
09:23 Off-topic discussion of dark meat vs. white meat
09:56 People in Collin’s lab are nice
10:46 Not understanding the Queen’s English
11:48 Collin pulls a Benedict Arnold on me
12:55 We stay home a lot, but also attended a dinner party!
14:19 Lovey-dovey blah blah
14:30 Outro
14:52 EXTRA BIT!

Special thanks to Sean Donaldson of the Power Hour Podcast for his early-morning crash course in the back end of podcasting!

  1. You two are adorable. Loved this, looking forward to more!

  2. This is fun ! In Mexico people take care of your car but they are not official employees of the city.
It is so funny that taxis can take you on their route down.
And the jet lag is totally normal… with the weird sleeping patterns it can take two weeks or so ?

    • To be fair I think the car guards work for private security firms contracted by the City, but the receipts have all their data so you know they are “legit” guards instead of… uh… entrepreneurs.

  3. Oh man. Somehow I didn’t really ever think about how you’re from Pennsylvania, and it was surprising that you sound just like my Pittsburgh relatives. I usually don’t like podcasts too much, and I loved this one.

  4. I love the mental image of you guys huddled together in a blanket fort. :)

  5. I love it! I love it! I love it!!!!!! Dad and I are listening to you and laughing and getting feklempt !!!! You sound wonderful under your blanket fort!!!! Keep these coming!!! How awesome to journal your journey in CapeTown!!!! We love you and can’t wait for the next one!!!!!!!!!
